My youngest brother Jack is on his mission in CA. He recently sent my parents an e-mail that said sorry for being such a butt head as a teenager. I laughed and laughed.
This morning I was talking with my oldest son Isaac. He asked me why we have to have a primary program every October at church. I said that is just how the church does it and this year I was put in charge of it and it would be nice if he would help and sing the songs.
He said "NOPE"! and turned and walked away from me.
Then I began to secretly hope that one day when he is older that I recieve a "sorry for being a butt head letter" too!

silly Isaac! Hey Amber I visit your blog all the time. I'm just a lame commenter because I'm worried I'm going to say something dumb that will be permanent!! I'll try not to be such a chicken! :)
thats funny, i remember doing that same thing to my parents, i think we all do. Isaac will most likely do it sometime later too.
Silas is on his mission too. Isnt it funny some of the things they write and apologize for. Hopefully they remember when they get home.
HA HA, i love it. Cort's mom is on her 4th, "sorry i was a butthead letter" Every missionary has sent one, so keep on hoping I promise you will get them!
I am glad to read your post. I have thought the same thing about Avery :). I love to visit you blog. I wish we were closer so our boys could play together. I always hope one day my boys will look back and see how hard I tried to be a good mom and over look my mistakes....(and apologize for being a butt :) )
Katie
I tell my mom often "Sorry" for all the typical kid things that I did as a child. My dad get the biggest kick out of my boys giving me the same treatment. In time we all seem to come around!
Katie...I don't have your e-mail and I can't access your blog....how do I contact you?
Amber
Don't you look forward to that day? My sister told me that a few years ago, she apologized to my mom for being such an awful teenager (she pretty much was...). My mom just looked at her and burst out laughing.
I think parents get the last laugh after all!
Don't we all live to see the "sorry for being a butt head" letter. I dream of that sweet, sweet day!
That is too funny! So glad we can stay in better touch! Your boys are adorable!!
Oh that is fUnNy! Yep it is a sad sad thing that it takes us growing up to truly appreciate our parents...I was NOT such a nice kid, and let me tell ya...Im being payed back 10 fold for what I put them through...he will come around.
AMEN!!!
that's hilarious!!
i can't even count how many times i've thought or said those things to my parents!!!
i guess it helps us be a little more patient with our own kids...
Dori would never say anything dumb.
This was a great post. Keep sharing those treasured moments.
