Embarassing!

Today is Monday. I had just gotten out of the shower and was in my bathrobe. I made a quick phone call to my Visiting Teaching Partner to confirm some VT details. While I was talking I guess someone knocked on my door, I didn't hear it. I have told the kids time and time again, do not answer the door. Tell mommy first so I can make sure it is safe. I usually let them answer the door if we are expecting someone but most of the time the rule is, "tell mommy first." Well anyway, I heard Tate unlocking the door and then he ran up the stairs and said mom there is someone at the door. I thought he was kidding. So I ignored it. Well anyway Tate was still standing there when I got off the phone and I looked to see that the door was wide open. I said "Tate, Mommy just got out of the shower, you are not supposed to open the door, you are supposed to tell me first." ( I did not yell this I just said it in a frustrated manner....haha!)
He ran to his bedroom. I went downstairs and hid halfway behind the door in my bathrobe to greet two Jehovah's Witnesses. A mom and her son, probably 10 years old! AHHHHH!
She wanted to talk to me and give me pamphlets and share a scripture. I said no thanks I am too embarassed I just got out of the shower. She still didn't want to leave, she wanted to chat some more! (my brain was yelling AHHHHHH! GO AWAY LADY!) Anyway I said no thanks again and closed the door!

I am so embarassed that the 10 year old was there to witness the whole thing, Me, a crazy lady in her bathrobe!

Maybe my boys will finally listen and obey me now about my "answering the door rule!"
AHHHHH!
Or not- Tate feels bad, but Isaac just thinks it is funny!

Yum!- Strawberries!

Today I invited a friend over and made some strawberry freezer jam and some strawberry syrup. I am not sure if the syrup turned out ok. But I know my jam did!
My sister in law Dori first taught me how to make it- Thanks Dori.
I have been making it now for 6 or 7 years. My family loves it.

I had to take a picture and show off my new containers I am using this year. They are made by Ball! I love them. They have screw on lids and come in 8oz and 16 oz.
The syrup is in the basic glass jars.....

I love summer time because that means "Berry Time!"

I am including Dori's Jam recipe if anyone wants to make their own!-(it is basically the one from the yellow pectin box- MCP)

Strawberry Freezer Jam

3 ¼ Cups crushed or pureed strawberries
¼ cup Lemon juice
4 ½ Cups sugar
1 cup light corn syrup

Makes about 7 cups of jam.

1. Wash and rinse plastic containers with tight fitting lids. 1-2 cup size.
2. Prepare fruit crushed or puree.
3. Measure exact amount of fruit along with lemon juice into large bowl.
4. Measure exact amount of sugar into separate bowl.
5. Gradually stir in pectin into fruit. Set aside for 30 minutes. Mixing every 5 minutes so that pectin is thoroughly dissolved.
6. Pour 1 cup corn syrup into fruit mixture. Mix well this prevents sugar from crystallization during freezer storage.
7. Stir in sugar gradually (works great with wire whisk) constantly until sugar is completely dissolved and no longer grainy.
8. Pour into prepared container, leaving ½ in space at top for expansion during freezing. Cover.
9. Let stand at room temperature 24 hours until set. Refrigerate up to 3 weeks. Otherwise. Store in freezer for up to 1 year. Thaw in refrigerator.
10. Do not double batches. I have at least 2 batches going at the same time in different bowls sometimes I give a bowl to each kid and they stir each. That’s 3-4 batches going at one time!!

Tate's Announcement

After finishing his bath today, Tate announced that the bathroom needs two things.

1. A roasty towel machine (to warm towels for when you get out of the bathtub)
2. A candy machine.

Yes, I thought- if the bathroom had roasty towels and candy, we would all be in Heaven! Ha Ha!
